What Is a Tone Mark?
Some words have a small mark above a letter. It's called a tone mark. Together with the letter's class, it sets the word's tone. Thai has four tone marks. You'll meet two in this chapter and the other two in the next one.
When a word has a tone mark, use the mark instead of the live and dead rules.
