স, শ and ষ Sound the Same

No English word starts with the sound of স. Assamese writes it x in English letters, so its card is named X, but it never sounds like the x in "taxi".
স is a scratchy sound, like the ch in "Bach": breathe out at the back of your mouth, with the back of your tongue raised, so the air scrapes.
