arall / eraill
Other: Arall, Eraill, Y Llall
arall goes after a singular noun: ffrind arall (another friend). eraill goes after a plural: ffrindiau eraill (other friends).
How It Works
Arall and eraill
- ffrind arall another friend / ffrindiau eraill other friends
- y ferch arall the other girl / y merched eraill the other girls
- un arall another one
- rhywbeth arall something else
- rhywun arall someone else
Else. After rhywbeth, rhywun, rhywle and unrhyw beth, arall means else: Unrhyw beth arall? (Anything else?). See Someone, Nobody, Something, Nothing.
No mutation. Arall and eraill begin with a vowel, so nothing changes after a feminine noun: cath arall.
The other one, the others. y llall and y lleill stand without a noun. They always have the article in front ('r after a vowel), so the ll never changes: Ble mae'r llall?
Plural adjectives. Most adjectives have no plural in everyday Welsh; eraill is the main one you will use. See Plural Adjectives. For the one ... the other, see One ... the Other.
