marta
Times
Put a number before marta to count times: bir marta (once), uch marta (three times). Ask with necha marta? (how many times?).
How It Works
Marta means time in the sense of an occurrence: once, twice, three times.
Counting. Put a plain number in front: bir marta (once), ikki marta (twice), oʻn marta (ten times), bir necha marta (several times), koʻp marta (many times). Like other counted words, it stays singular and takes no -ta. Ask with necha marta? (how many times?).
How often per period. Use the period with a possessive and -ga: kuniga uch marta (three times a day), haftasiga ikki marta (twice a week), oyiga bir marta (once a month).
First, last, next time. With an ordinal number, marta means "the ... time": birinchi marta (for the first time), ikkinchi marta (for the second time). With oxirgi (last), it means "the last time": oxirgi marta. For "this time", Uzbek usually says bu safar or bu gal.
Times as much. With an adjective and a comparison, marta multiplies: Bu uy u uydan ikki marta katta (This house is twice as big as that one). Ming marta yaxshi means "a thousand times better".
Once more. Yana bir marta means "one more time": Iltimos, yana bir marta ayting (Please say it once more).
