Between and Among with Tarp
Tarp means between or among and takes the genitive: tarp namo ir parko (between the house and the park), tarp draugų (among friends).
How It Works
Between two things
Put both nouns in the genitive: tarp banko ir pašto (between the bank and the post office), tarp Vilniaus ir Kauno (between Vilnius and Kaunas).
Among a group
With a plural noun, tarp means among: tarp draugų (among friends), tarp medžių (among the trees), Tarp mano draugų yra du lietuviai. (There are two Lithuanians among my friends.)
Between two times
Tarp penktos ir šeštos valandos (between five and six o'clock), tarp pamokų (between classes). See Telling the Time.
Pronouns

Common Mistakes
Using the instrumental pronoun after tarp.
Tai lieka tarp mumis.Tai lieka tarp mūsų.Tarp takes the genitive, so the pronoun is mūsų, not the instrumental mumis. Some languages use another case here, but Lithuanian does not.
Using the accusative after tarp.
Parduotuvė yra tarp banką ir paštą.Parduotuvė yra tarp banko ir pašto.Both nouns after tarp must be in the genitive: banko ir pašto.
