The Same: idem
Is, ea, id plus -dem: the same.
How It Works
| masculine | feminine | neuter | |
|---|---|---|---|
| nominative | idem | eadem | idem |
| accusative | eundem | eandem | idem |
| genitive | eiusdem | eiusdem | eiusdem |
| dative | eidem | eidem | eidem |
| ablative | eodem | eadem | eodem |
The plural nominative is iidem or eidem, eaedem, eadem. In the genitive plural the m also becomes n: eorundem, earundem. Use idem with a noun (idem puer) or on its own (idem dicit).
To say the same as, use idem qui (the same person who) or idem atque (the same as): Idem sentio atque tu. The word after atque is in the same case as the thing compared.
