duine / beirt
One and Two People
Duine counts one person and beirt counts two: beirt chairde. Personal counting constructions are not the same as ordinary object counting.
How It Works
Duine counts one person and beirt counts two: beirt chairde. Personal counting constructions are not the same as ordinary object counting.
Duine can name one person. Beirt counts two people and can stand alone or take a following noun such as chairde. This personal-number construction does not use the same singular counting pattern as dhá bhád for two boats.
