d' + Past Verb
D-Prefix in the Past
Before a vowel and lenited f, relevant past forms use d': d'ól sé, d'fhág sí. Past-tense d' is not the possessive d'.
How It Works
Before a vowel and lenited f, relevant past forms use d': d'ól sé, d'fhág sí. Past-tense d' is not the possessive d'.
Past d' appears before a vowel sound, including the sound left after eligible silent fh. Write it directly before the verb: d'ól, d'fhág. A preceding past question or negative particle changes this pattern, so do not retain d' mechanically after ar or níor.
