is + Noun
Classifying with the Copula
Use the copula to classify someone or something: Is múinteoir mé. This pattern differs from tá plus an adjective or location.
How It Works
Use the copula to classify someone or something: Is múinteoir mé. This pattern differs from tá plus an adjective or location.
In this classification frame the copula is comes before the category noun, and the person classified comes afterward. Irish does not insert an indefinite article before múinteoir. Definite identifications, such as naming the teacher, use a different copular frame.
