Proverb: Egbe bere, ugo bere
A public proverb: live and let live.
How It Works
This is a well-known Igbo proverb. Egbe is the kite and ugo is the eagle, and bere is the plain verb “perch”.
| Part | Meaning |
|---|---|
| egbe bere | let the kite perch |
| ugo bere | let the eagle perch |
The two halves have the same shape. The point is that there is room for everyone, so each should let the other live. Say it as it is and do not change a word.
