Myself, Yourself: onwe
onwe + pronoun: myself, yourself.
How It Works
Onwe means “self” and takes a pronoun after it.
| Say | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Ọ hụrụ onwe ya. | He or she saw himself or herself. |
| mụ onwe m | I myself |
| gị onwe gị | you yourself |
| Obi hụrụ onwe ya. | Obi saw himself. |
The stand-alone pronoun can come before onwe for emphasis, as in mụ onwe m. The pronoun after onwe is the owner, so onwe m is “my self” and onwe ya is “his or her self”. The word follows the verb like any object.
