-cha: Finished
root + cha: finish doing.
How It Works
The ending -cha says an action is done, to the end.
| Say | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Ọ gụchara akwụkwọ ahụ. | He or she finished reading the book. |
| O richara nri. | He or she finished eating. |
| Ha mechara ọrụ ahụ. | They finished the work. |
The verb mecha (me plus cha) means “finish” on its own. The past ending comes after -cha, so gụ becomes gụchara.
