Questions Inside a Sentence
An indirect question uses a question word or αν after a verb such as ξέρω or ρωτάω.
How It Works
An indirect question uses a question word or αν after a verb such as ξέρω or ρωτάω.
It does not need English-style inversion. Πού and πώς keep their accents when they are genuinely interrogative, and the sentence's punctuation follows the whole utterance.
| Greek | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Δεν ξέρω πού μένει. | I do not know where he or she lives. |
| Ρωτάει πότε φεύγουμε. | He or she asks when we are leaving. |
| Ξέρεις αν είναι εδώ; | Do you know whether he or she is here? |
