нехта / хтосьці
Someone with Не- and -сьці
Нехта стукае ў дзверы. (Someone is knocking at the door.) Мой тэлефон дзесьці тут. (My phone is somewhere here.)
How It Works
Build these words from the question words хто, што and дзе:
- someone: нехта or хтосьці
- something: нешта or штосьці
- somewhere: недзе or дзесьці; towards somewhere: кудысьці
- once, in the past: некалі or калісьці
- some kind of: нейкі or якісьці
Meaning. These words mean one real person, thing or place: someone definitely knocked, but I do not know who. That makes them natural in statements about the past and present. When anyone at all would do, use -небудзь instead.
Cases. Only the хто or што part changes. Нехта: некага, некаму, некім. Нешта: нечага, нечаму, нечым. Хтосьці: кагосьці, камусьці, кімсьці. So: Я некага бачыў. (I saw someone.)
Не- is not ні-. Words with ні- mean nobody and nothing and need не on the verb: Ніхто не прыйшоў. See double negation. Нехта means someone.
Two extra uses. With a dative and an infinitive, некалі and недзе mean there is no time or no place: Мне некалі адпачываць. (I have no time to rest.) With a time or amount, недзе means about: недзе а пятай (at about five).

Using нехта when you mean nobody.
Нехта не прыйшоў на ўрок.Ніхто не прыйшоў на ўрок.The incorrect sentence means someone did not come. To say that nobody came, use ніхто with не.
