Best Apps to Learn Toki Pona in 2026

Toki Pona is a small language made by Sonja Lang in 2001. Her official book, Toki Pona: The Language of Good, teaches 120 words, and the language has had its own ISO 639-3 code, tok, since January 2022. Few language apps teach it, and Duolingo's constructed-language courses are Esperanto, High Valyrian, and Klingon. Many learners start with free videos and a community, then add an app for practice.

Here are the apps and services that help with Toki Pona, grouped by what they help you do. You can start with one and add another when you need it.

Custom Lessons Made for You

Bubblegum

Bubblegum suits learners who want Toki Pona built around their own lives. Tell Poppy, your AI tutor, what you want to learn. She writes lessons for your level and helps you understand the words and grammar. You can read and listen, and ask her about anything that is unclear. News and stories give you more Toki Pona to read about music, food, family, and other things you care about.

The trade-off is that Bubblegum does not replace real Toki Pona voices. For conversation, try italki and Tandem in Learn With People. For lessons that follow the official book, start with the free videos and courses in Videos, Books, and Communities.
