Best Apps for Lithuanian Comprehensible Input in 2026

Stories, audio, and videos can all help you learn Lithuanian when you can follow what they mean. That is the idea behind comprehensible input: learning from Lithuanian you can mostly understand. Easy Lithuanian can be hard to find, and a learner on Reddit says Lithuanian “doesn’t have as many learning tools as some other languages.”

These apps and free resources give you Lithuanian at your level, or help you follow the Lithuanian you pick yourself. For courses, speaking practice, and tutors, see our Lithuanian app comparison.

Custom Lessons Made for You

Bubblegum

Learn Lithuanian with a path made just for you. Start with your level, what you like, and why you want to learn. Your path grows as you learn, with new lessons that fit you. Bubblegum also has news and stories, so you can read and listen to a mix of Lithuanian about music, food, family, or daily life.

Poppy, your AI tutor, writes each lesson for your level and goals. If a sentence is hard to follow, just ask her to explain the words or the grammar.

The trade-off is that Bubblegum can't help you read Lithuanian you found yourself. For a video or a web page you already picked, the tools in Read and Watch Lithuanian You Choose are the better fit.

              Free Podcasts, Videos, and Books

Lithuanian with Paulius is a free podcast for learners, with more than 130 episodes since 2024 on YouTube and in podcast apps. Most episodes are for beginners, and some are for intermediate and advanced learners. Every YouTube episode has Lithuanian subtitles. A Cup of Lithuanian is a newer podcast by Lithuanian teachers for learners at A2 and up, with a new episode every two weeks. Lithuanian Out Loud stopped making episodes in 2021, but learners on Reddit still suggest its archive of more than 300 episodes to beginners.

Lithuanian without subtitles uses LRT Paprastai stories for A2 reading and listening practice on YouTube. For radio, LRT's Radioteka has shows and stories for children and teens, and someone on Reddit suggests them to a learner between A2 and B1.

Children's TV is another easy start. LRT has a children's section in its Mediateka, with shows such as Gustavo enciklopedija, about nature, animals, history, and space. Several people on Reddit suggest Gustavo enciklopedija to learners, and some also suggest Kakė Makė, a children's show with many picture books.

For reading, Interlinear Books has free Lithuanian short stories, novels, and poems with an English translation under each line. The translations, and the audio on some texts, are made with AI. The Lithuanian Literature and Folklore Institute offers Mokomės skaityti lietuviškai, two free collections of Lithuanian folk tales and literature with questions after each text: one for adults and one for children and teens.

              Frequently Asked Questions

Does written Lithuanian show where the stress goes?

Not usually. Stress marks appear in dictionaries and where they help avoid confusion, but everyday writing leaves them out. Paste a text into Kirčiuoklis, a free tool from Vytautas Magnus University, to see where the stress falls.

              How many people speak Lithuanian?

About 3 million people speak Lithuanian. It is the state language of Lithuania and one of the official languages of the European Union.

              Is Bubblegum free?

Yes. The lesson library is free for everyone, because we believe everyone should be able to learn. It holds lessons that other learners asked Poppy for. A new custom lesson costs us real money to make, so you can ask Poppy for a free one, and Bubblegum Pro gives you unlimited custom lessons.
